Mitise Pre Season Cup – Round 1 Preview

This Thursday night sees the first games of the newly formed Mitise Cup, which is the FFSA’s Pre Season Cup for the state’s WNPL clubs. It is a competition aimed at providing South Australia’s elite women’s football clubs with an opportunity to play more competitive games during pre season, but also an opportunity for the fans of women’s football in SA to see the WNPL clubs show what their new signings can do.

For MUWFC, there has been change at the top, with South Australian football legend and former Sergio Melta medallist Tony Scalzi becoming WNPL Coach, taking over from Marie Spagnoletti whose newly appointed position is Junior Technical Director.

Scalzi wasted no time in re-signing the vast majority of the clubs 2018 Premiership winning squad, as well as adding another 9 young up and coming players to the club.

MUWFC’s first game of the Pre Season Cup comes against last season’s 4th placed team in the FFSA NTC squad. With this match being both teams first competitive hit out of 2019, expect to see both coaches try a few things out, but MUWFC will be expecting to win and start 2019 off in the right way.
