Round 1 Preview: Adelaide Uni vs. MUWFC

WNPL Round 1 Preview – Adelaide University vs MUWFC

Tonight we see the long awaited start to the 2019 South Australian WNPL Season, which coincides with Female Football Week, with all 4 WNPL matches being played at VALO Football Centre in what promises to be a huge night for womens football.

Pre-season has been great for the club. A fresh start under seasoned professional Tony Scalzi, the team is ticking and have adapted to his style seamlessly. While results have been up and down during the Mitise Pre Season Cup, the performances have been good. As many as 9 players at a time have been missing from the First Team squad during pre season games, which has been great in allowing some of the clubs young new signings to gain valuable First Team game time and experience against WNPL opposition. In particular goalkeeper Hunter Strudwick, flyer Millie Scott and the solid Jess Signoriello have all looked great, with Signoriello looking likely to make her WNPL starting debut. New signing Ellie Bills also looks likely to face her former club.

The hunger and youthful exuberance coupled with the ever reliable performances from the experienced players in the clubs ranks has been a great combination, and looks to have set a great platform for another title challenge.

Stars Laura Stockdale and Ebony Kyriacou look to have done more than enough during the past week on the track after nursing niggles to earn a place in the Round 1 squad.

Chanel Todino, Mirella Scalzi, Zoe Hammond and Olivia Beer will be round 1 absentees due to injury.
