Round 10 Preview – MUWFC vs West Adelaide

Round 10 has come around quickly, and we head to our second home in T.K. Shutter Reserve to face West Adelaide in a WNPL/NPL double header with MetroStars.

MUWFC are coming off a resounding 3-0 win over Adelaide University last week, managing to play for the best part of 60 minutes with 10 women, after a red card to goalkeeper Hunter Strudwick, while West Adelaide had a solid 3-0 win over bottom side Fulham United.

This match looks to be a very intriguing match up, as most matches between MUWFC and West Adelaide are. It is currently 2nd vs 4th in the WNPL table, with both sides needing the 3 points to stay in touch with Adelaide City who top the table at the moment.

The first match between these two powerhouses of women’s football resulted in a MUWFC 2-1 win, thanks to an 88th minute penalty converted by WNPL Golden Boot leader Chrissy Panagaris, who will look to continue some incredible goal scoring form.

Panagaris is the main danger in the front third, and West Adelaide’s defence will need some luck to be able to stop her, while the experience with the likes of Kristy Moore, Donna Cockayne and Laura Stockdale will be a lot to handle, while Ebony Kyriacou and Isabella Scalzi will look to marshal the defence to another clean sheet.

On the West Adelaide side, they have a formidable goalkeeper in the form of Adelaide United W-League custodian Sarah Willacy, and it is no easy task putting the ball past her, so MUWFC will need to be at their absolute best in the front third to get a result, while in the front third, Nicole Tilley is always a danger and will be a handful for our defence.

This promises to be a gripping match on the brand new T.K Shutter Reserve, and it certainly isn’t a game you want to miss!
