Round 19 Preview: MUWFC vs. Adelaide Uni

With just 3 rounds left before Finals, the WNPL is really hotting up in the chase for a Finals spot with MUWFC hosting Adelaide University this week. Our MUWFC girls have already claimed a spot in the Top 2, however the fight is still on with Adelaide City to see who will be crowned as Premiers come Saturday August 4. Adelaide University meanwhile, are sitting just outside a Finals position in 5th, but are only 3 points behind the FFSA NTC team. Every point in these last 3 rounds are invaluable for the top 5 teams.

MUWFC last week hit an undermanned Salisbury Inter for 4, with Rachael Quigley bagging a double, while Stella Rigon and Nicole Calder both netted one each. Inter never looked like scoring with the strong MUWFC defence of Calder, skipper Ebony Kyriacou, Kristy Moore and Isabella Scalzi keeping former Adelaide United and now Inter striker Adriana Jones so quiet that you didn’t even realise she was on the park.

Adelaide Uni last week held 3rd placed West Adelaide to a 1-1 draw thanks to a Guajardo goal just 2 minutes after coming off the bench.

While MUWFC try and hold off Adelaide City at the top of the table and keep that first spot safe, Uni will be looking to grab as many points as possible and claim a Finals spot.
