Round 3 Preview – West Adelaide vs MUWFC

Round 3 of the WNPL competition will see our MUWFC girls travel to the West Beach Parks Football Centre for the first time in 2019 to face rivals West Adelaide in the WNPL’s first real rivalry match between two of the “big 3” teams of the season.

Both sides, along with Adelaide City and Salisbury Inter have started 2019 without a loss in their opening two games, and will be looking to continue that trend heading into their third game.

Our MUWFC girls are coming off a good 4-1 win over the newly promoted Adelaide Comets, a game which was dominated in the second half by MUWFC, and where FFSA Hall of Famer Kristy Moore bagged a hat-trick.

Meanwhile, West Adelaide managed a 3-1 win over the FFSA NTC side in their Round 2 match.

MUWFC will need to be on top form heading into this one against a quality West Adelaide side. The focus of the week has been on valuing possession of the ball and not giving it away cheaply, while also making the most of the countless number of attacks the side is managing to create. If MUWFC can be more clinical in the front third, then this match could go either way.

West Adelaide will look to the usual suspects for their goals, with Nicole Tilley sure to be a handful and Dragana Kljajic dangerous on the wing.

Neither side will want to fall too far behind Adelaide City who have put plenty of goals away in the first two rounds, so although it may only be Round 3, this is certainly a massive match for both sides.

Mirella Scalzi, Zoe Hammond, Chanel Todino, Roxy Dodd and Olivia Beer are all still unavailable for selection due to injury.
