Round 5 Preview: MUWFC vs. Salisbury Inter

Round 5 Preview

Round 5 of the South Australian WNPL sees MUWFC return back to VALO Football Centre – The Parks for the first time in 3 weeks to face Northern rival, Salisbury Inter in an “away” game on a massive Thursday Night Football event, with all 4 WNPL matches again being held at the one venue.

MUWFC will be looking to replicate a strong pre-season friendly performance against Inter back in February when we ran out 6-2 winners on the night, but as we know, pre-season results count for nothing now. Meanwhile, Salisbury Inter will be raring to go after their game against FFSA NTC was postponed last week, as they try to keep in touch with the top 3.

MUWFC are coming off of a massive 9-0 win over the struggling Fulham United last Friday night, in which there was 3 separate hat-tricks according to the referees report, although there is some conjecture about who actually scored how many goals. Nevertheless, it was a massive win for MUWFC, and one which sees us move to within 2 points of West Adelaide who currently sit on top of the WNPL ladder by goal difference over Adelaide City.

Chrissy Panagaris has continued her outstanding form from the last 2 seasons, netting a hat-trick against Fulham last week to take her goal tally for 2018 to 5 goals from 4 games, and 24 goals in her last 26 WNPL games. 2018 recruit Racheal Quigley has settled in nicely, also with 5 goals from 4 games this season, to be tied with Panagaris for the Golden Boot award early on in the season. Roxy Dodd is another in some serious scoring form with 4 goals in 4 appearances in the Reserves, and 3 goals in the WNPL in just 80 minutes of senior game time after coming on as a substitute in each of the last 3 matches, and will be looking to get some more minutes this week. 17 year old Elle Pirintzis is another of the 2018 recruits who has settled nicely into the senior setup, having started 3 of the first 4 games, and compliments the more experienced defenders with youthful enthusiasm and a strong determination to win every ball.
