In 2020, a significant moment in our club’s history took place when the members of Metro United WFC voted overwhelmingly to begin the journey of reuniting with MetroStars. Over the past five years, both clubs have walked side by side with a shared vision steadily laying the foundation for a full-circle return to our origins.

Together, we’ve invested in world-class training facilities at TK Shutter Reserve that are now among the very best in the state. These spaces aren’t just for today they are a legacy for future generations of players who will thrive in an environment built on excellence, inclusion, and pride.

In a sporting environment that continues to evolve and challenge even the strongest clubs, unity is our strength. Financial pressures, rising operational demands, and infrastructure limitations have led to the downfall of many proud clubs. But by combining our resources, people, and passion, MetroStars and Metro United WFC are not only surviving, but we are also preparing to flourish. Together, we are stronger, more resilient, and ready to embrace the future.

We are proud of what each club has built with our winning culture, respected brand, and commitment to player development across both men’s and women’s programs. Through collaboration and shared values, we’ve created something truly special. And now, under the leadership of Rob Rende and Dora Rinaldi, and with the full support of both committees, we believe the time is right to complete the formal reunification of our two proud clubs.

This union brings with it many exciting benefits:

What to expect in 2026 and beyond:

1. All teams will play under the unified MetroStars name

2. A shared commemorative playing kit for the first year

3. Fee structures will remain the same (with standard annual adjustments)

4. A refreshed MetroStars logo incorporating both legacies for the first year

5. Training and match days will continue at both Pooraka and TK Shutter Reserve

6. A combined unwavering drive to upgrade facilities at Pooraka

While any transition can bring uncertainty, our commitment to players and families remains unwavering. We are here to support you through every step of this exciting journey and ensure that the integration is smooth, respectful, and future focused.

Importantly, Metro United WFC will maintain a dedicated women’s sub-committee within the MetroStars structure and will also have increased representation on the MetroStars Executive Committee ensuring the voice of women's football remains strong and influential.

Together, we are building one of South Australia’s most powerful football club. The future is bright and it’s united.

Nearly six years ago, I sat down with Dora and shared, with complete honesty, my dream of reuniting our clubs and bringing us back together as one. It was a heartfelt conversation rooted with shared passion for the game and a belief that together, we could achieve something truly special.

So, we are incredibly proud and excited to welcome the women’s football back home to their origins at MetroStars. This return marks more than just a change in it’s a powerful statement about our club’s commitment to unity, inclusion, and honouring our history. The women's team has always been an important part of our fabric and having them back where it all began feels both natural and deeply meaningful.

This homecoming is a moment of celebration for everyone who has supported women's football over the years. It represents progress, a renewed sense of belonging, and a brighter future for the next generation of female footballers. We look forward to building a stronger, more connected club with shared values, shared facilities, and shared dreams under one badge, one roof, and one united purpose. Welcome home.
