WNPL Round 2 Preview – Adelaide Comets vs MUWFC

Round 2 of the 2019 WNPL season sees us travel to Jack Smith Park on Saturday to face the newly promoted Adelaide Comets in a double header with the men’s NPL match between Adelaide Comets and MetroStars to be played prior to the WNPL match.

MUWFC started off the 2019 season with a 2-2 draw with Adelaide University last Friday night in an end to end contest, while Adelaide Comets lost 0-2 to Salisbury Inter in their inaugural match in the WNPL.

During training this week the focus was to attack and finish the chances that could have seen the girls snatch a win last week. It is certainly a very focused and sharp looking squad heading into Round 2.

The mood around the squad has been great, and if the same intensity from Round 1 is carried into this week, then our MUWFC girls will put themselves in a great position to outrun a Comets side who will still be trying to get used to the increased intensity and pressure that the WNPL brings.

Ebony Kyriacou has trained well after coming off the bench and scoring last week, and could make her first start of the season, while the ever exciting Laura Stockdale has absolutely torn up the track this week and will be itching for her first minutes of the season.

Mirella Scalzi, Zoe Hammond, Chanel Todino, Roxy Dodd and Olivia Beer are all still unavailable for selection due to injury.

Adelaide Comets face MetroStars in Round 4 of the men’s NPL before our match, with their kickoff at 5:00pm.
